Case Study
Team Development for a Housing Association
A Housing Association approached us to design
a programme with the objective of improving the
quality of teamwork in its maintenance division.
During the first day of our two-day programme,
the team took part in a demanding activity based
on a disaster and rescue scenario. This focussed
the team on planning and co-ordination, agreeing
goals, problem solving, communication and motivation.
In the words of a participant:
"It was like having a mirror held up to
us – that’s exactly what we do when
we are at work."
Having been able to openly acknowledge their
strengths and weaknesses, the team was ready
to consider their development. On the second
day we facilitated the introduction of relevant
teamwork concepts into the context of the housing
association’s work. The outcome for the
team was a set of ground rules and a development
plan agreed by all. Six months later, the team
has observed a sustained improvement in their
teamwork.
"We are now working together so much better – which
is good for us and better still for our customers."
Our approach
